Beating patterns, phase shifts, micro-variations: Open Symmetry by Tristan Perich unfolds a listening experience grounded in the infinitesimal. Written for three vibraphones and 1-bit electronics, the work treats repetition not as stasis, but as continuous transformation. Performed by ensemble 0, it brings forth, through interference and minute deviations, a sonic architecture both rigorous and vibrant. Having appeared at Musica several times in recent years, Perich here continues his exploration of the relationship between electronic systems, acoustic phenomena and perception.
