Created by composer Sasha J. Blondeau in collaboration with writer and documentary filmmaker Adila Bennedjaï-Zou, Devenir|s Mutant·es (Becoming Mutants) is a hybrid musical project exploring experiences of mutation—whether imposed or chosen. Presented as a live podcast, the piece brings together three voices—Balla Fofana, Treize·s and Sasha J. Blondeau—whose trajectories intersect and resonate. Their accounts are echoed by an instrumental choir, creating a two-layered dramaturgy. Drawing on situated stories, the work explores processes of assignment and transformation, while subverting expected narratives to make space for multiple becomings.
