Created by composer Sasha J. Blondeau in collaboration with writer and documentary filmmaker Adila Bennedjaï-Zou, Devenir|s Mutant·es (Becoming Mutants) is a hybrid musical project exploring experiences of mutation — whether imposed or chosen. Presented as a live podcast, the piece brings together the voices of Balla Fofana, Treize·s and Sasha J. Blondeau whose three trajectories intersect and resonate. Their stories are echoed by an instrumental choir, creating a two-layered dramaturgy. Drawing on situated stories, the work explores processes of assignment and transformation, while subverting expected narratives to make space for multiple becomings.
