Après la mémoire  emerged from the two artists’ journey to Madagascar and from the realization of their fundamentally different relationships to what is supposed to be their country of origin. In a suspended space, like an antechamber to hell, past, present and aspirations merge as bodies and memories strive to negotiate the contradictory forces that shape them: integration and uprooting, remembrance and forgetting, loss and self-reinvention. The audience is invited into their initiation ceremony, an unclassifiable sonic and visual form that unfolds as an attempt at identity reconciliation, challenging our perceptions and unsettling preconceived ideas.
