The JACK Quartet introduces us to the work of John Luther Adams, a composer of soundscapes and a passionate advocate for the environment.
A wanderer of vast landscapes—from northern Alaska, where he spent much of his life, to the North and South American deserts today—John Luther Adams was first an environmental activist in the 1970s and ’80s and only turned to composition later in life. Almost unknown in France, John Luther Adams is one of the most original composers of his generation. Performed here by the JACK Quartet, his works are born from 'attentional writing', a necessary condition to the bonding of humanity and the environment.
Curated by Léonard Sanchez
"The sound geography of John Luther Adams awakened in me an ecological awareness. His music invites us to listen attentively to our sonic environment, while showing how art and commitment can truly nourish one another."
