L’Orchestre national de Metz se produit pour la première fois à Musica. À cette occasion, David Reiland braque sa baguette par-delà la Manche et l’Atlantique, avec le concerto pour percussions de Rebecca Saunders et une ouverture quasi méconnue de Charles Ives. Le climat sombre et éclatant de ces deux œuvres contraste avec un second concerto, celui du regretté Jonathan Harvey : la salle de concert est ouverte sur la nature environnante pour laisser pénétrer, dans un geste de malice, une multitude d’oiseaux qui s’agitent sous les envolées pianistiques de Bertrand Chamayou.

Performing at Musica for the first time, the Orchestre national de Metz under the baton of David Reiland reaches across the Channel and over the Atlantic, with the concerto for percussion by Rebecca Saunders, and a little-known overture by Charles Ives. The striking, sombre ambiance of these two works contrasts with a second concerto, by the late Jonathan Harvey, in which the concert hall opens onto the surrounding nature, letting in a multitude of birds whirling to the soaring piano of Bertrand Chamayou.
