An autobiographical narrative and philosophical meditation published in 1854, Walden by Henry David Thoreau recounts the author’s experiment in simple living in a cabin on the shores of Walden Pond, near Concord — a plea for a life freed from materialism and attentive to the living world. Heiner Goebbels takes up this foundational text and transforms it into a theatricalised soundscape: spoken voice, instruments, and acoustic materials compose nine sensory and musical “environments,” inviting us to listen to the world as a space of resistance and renewal.
