In the late 19th century, French physiologist Étienne-Jules Marey invented chronophotography, a technique that allows movement to be observed. Using this method of visual amplification and a treadmill, Simon Steen-Andersen offers a study on walking—a seemingly banal movement that holds infinite theatrical potential. A lecture-performance music-choreography smoke-installation light-show in which the musicians’ bodies are confronted with the suspension of time.
