British trombonist and composer Alex Paxton joins HYPER DUO for a concert entirely devoted to his sonic imagination. A recent work co-commissioned by Musica, That One Friend for trombone and electronics provides the programme’s central point: a virtuosic, colour-saturated writing in which pop pulses, queer energy, and cartoonish humour disrupt the conventions of the concert format. Exuberant and unpredictable music comes out, shifting abruptly from unrestrained lyricism to rhythmic eruptions, between controlled chaos, harmonic flashes, and constant invention.
