concert with headphones
La Boutique des rêves (A Deal in Dreams, originally Ein Geschäft Mit Träumen), based on the short story and radio play by Ingeborg Bachmann, is a work of musical theatre directed by Clara Chabalier with music by Karl Naegelen. Laurenz, an office employee, discovers a mysterious shop where dreams can be purchased — not with money, but with time. Conceived as a headphone performance, the sound creation is produced live on stage: voices, music, and acoustic landscapes unfold closest to the listener’s ear. Oscillating between urban realism and dreamlike irruptions, the piece questions our desire to escape work-driven and profit-oriented mechanisms.
