CONCERT
A pioneer of acoustic ecology, Knud Viktor (1924–2013) composed his electroacoustic works by bringing to the forefront natural and animal phenomena that had previously gone unheard.
‘I would like to think that there is a sort of symphony at work in nature’. Danish artist Kund Viktor (1924–2013) moved to the south of France in the 1960s. Living almost as a hermit in a former sheepfold in the Luberon, he dedicated himself to a unique musical practice: painting the landscape and its wildlife with sound, using microphones and magnetic tape recorders. He composed electroacoustic works from field recordings and, though never being a part of any artistic movement during his lifetime, became a pioneer of acoustic ecology.
