With superposition, Ryoji Ikeda created his ‘symphony’, a multidimensional work in which he mixes elements from the rich audio-visual palette he has deployed since the mid-1990s. This electronic performance writing features two performers whose actions feed a monumental digital mural, projected onto 22 screens. The streams of acoustic, textual and mathematical data arrive frenetically, overlapping to the point that our auditory and visual perceptions merge: the sound writes the image on the screen, and the image writes the sound in the acoustic space.
