A major evening taking the pulse of Ireland’s music scene today: a scene in motion, led by the Crash Ensemble and artists who connect oral traditions, contemporary writing, electronic forms and songs.
Shaped by a turbulent history and by a living relationship to tradition, contemporary Irish music today asserts a singular vitality. At the heart of the evening, Crash Ensemble presents several major figures from the Dublin scene — Ann Cleare, Ed Bennett, Andrew Hamilton, and Dónal Sarsfield — whose writings unsettle established frameworks with remarkable freedom. At the organ, Natalia Beylis opens up a more spectral territory, while Michael Gallen reveals his songwriter side. An evening to hear Ireland where it is transforming: in its frictions, margins, and metamorphoses.
