Combining early repertoire with contemporary pieces, this concert draws a sensitive cartography of the violin’s possibilities, exploring its sonic margins, fragilities and metamorphoses. Works by Bach, Cage and Tenney bring virtuosic technique and sensitivity, density and silence into dialogue, culminating in a composition by Aisha Orazbayeva, where a broken sound seems to hold the memory of all the others. A soundscape in which echoes of past and present overlap, reinvent one another and come together.
