Roomful of Teeth brings together two world premieres and a landmark work from the contemporary vocal repertoire.

With Rumors of war, Alyssa Regent explores the tensions between doubt, fear, the desire for self-assertion, and the search for inner reconciliation, in a dramatic dialogue between individual voices and choir. Florent Ghys, meanwhile, draws on the sounds of French and English—interjections, onomatopoeia, everyday noises—to shape Gourmandise, a jubilant vocal piece combining precise writing, humour, and a video component. To round off the programme, Caroline Shaw’s sublime Partita for 8 voices makes a welcome return to Musica, radiating an irresistible choral energy.
