Hunter
Liesa Van der Aa | Ensemble B O D I E S
Liesa Van der Aa’s new piece materializes a staged work between concert, performance, and theatre. Drawing on Björk’s album Homogenic as its matrix, particularly on the song “Hunter”, the piece conveys a similar sense of chasing and tension. Set on a basketball court, eight singers form a team subjected to rules, expectations, and constant pressure. Electronic beats, a cappella polyphonies, and collective gestures shape this “game” in which discipline, control, and conformity are continually replayed and renegotiated. Between repetition and mounting tension, the piece reveals the mechanisms of a world where one must keep going at all costs, and perform without failing — until reaching the breaking point.
