Revisiting French lullabies and traditional songs, Franco-Irish artist Kevin Fowley invents an experimental folk idiom — intimate and gently disoriented — as suggested by his album À feu doux (2024). For Musica, he extends this work with a piece inspired by Tomi Ungerer’s Fog Island, reconnecting with the Ireland of the Strasbourg-born artist, who settled in West Cork in 1976. Field recordings, altered tapes and sounds gathered in the west of Ireland and on the Blasket Islands form a shifting landscape, like a tale blurred by the sea, memory and wind.
