Musica brings the Québecois and Canadian scene to Strasbourg, in collaboration with Le Vivier, Montréal’s hub for new music.
For three days, new music artists, curators, and music professionals from Québec and Canada, France, and across Europe will come together in Strasbourg with the aim of building new links between the European and North American continents.
Programme: workshops on transcontinental dissemination in a time of geopolitical upheavals and climate crisis; presentations on the recognition of Indigenous populations in Canada’s artistic and cultural landscape; exchanges on young audiences targeted projects on both sides of the Atlantic; inter-network meetings with Futurs Composés; and opportunities for dialogue between artists & curators.
These encounters will be accompanied by a panorama of Québécois and Canadian experimental and new music, as well as a carte blanche to Montréal’s MUTEK festival. Together they offer a wide-ranging showcase of the musical vitality in North America, featuring the Bozzini Quartet and the Sixtrum percussion ensemble, alongside composers Guillaume Coutu Dumont & Line Katcho, Kara-Lis Coverdale, France Jobin, and Nicole Lizée.
This Québec/Canada focus is organised in collaboration with Le Vivier, a network bringing together more than 70 members, artists, and musical ensembles. Based in Montréal, Le Vivier is a non-profit organisation dedicated to new music, with core activities that include presenting works and artistic projects through its programming, residencies, platform for emerging artists, music workshops, and youth-oriented initiatives.
