At the dawn of their careers, three young performers are brought together on stage by Maëlle Dequiedt. They play, sing, give voice to their desires, and observe the world in an imaginary dialogue with anthropologist and anarchist thinker David Graeber.
The Democracy Project is the title of an essay by David Graeber, anthropologist, anarchist thinker, and key figure in the Occupy Wall Street movement. As democracy faces growing threats, he asserts the need to live as if we were already free: not by overthrowing domination but by ceasing to produce it, by imagining a revolution not as a single grand uprising but as an endless improvisation. Building on this idea, La Phenomena invites three extraordinary musicians to take an interview with Graeber and turn it into a genre-defying, highly inflammable performance. At the dawn of their careers, they dive head-first into his ideas, electrifying his words with music and reflecting on the meaning of their journeys, their contradictions, and their place as artists in society, all through the lens of his battles.
