The unique combination of two quartets — strings and saxophones — highlighting the music of Jürg Frey.
Swiss composer Jürg Frey is the master of sonic fragility. Each of his works is a suspended moment, a quiet ode to slowness built on imperceptible aerial progressions. This meticulous attention to musical material reaches its height in a piece plainly titled Continuité, fragilité, résonance (Continuity, Fragility, Resonance). Combining a string quartet and a saxophone quartet, he explores new blends of timbre and exquisitely subtle plays of harmonic appearance and disappearance.
